I'm partly colorblind. Is it all based on color?

Just 1 color - you should be fine. Well worth it.

I did something in the last couple days I hadn't done in a while: I pulled the shaft out of my skimmer impeller and did a vinegar soak - so much noise went away after that - a good reminder to do that more often.

If you get a refractometor I suggest the red sea one. Much easier to read in my opinion. It's a little more money but we'll worth it. My friend bought one off ebay and I couldn't read his so I never got one. I got lucky finding this refractometor. My hydrometer was way off. I thought my tank was at 1.26sg and it was only at 1.24. I'm sure I'll notice some positive changes now I that I can be a bit more accurate.

Today was a complete clean (actually yesterday was, shush), I managed to transfer all my little friends and then give the tank and equipment a good cleaning. I have found that I can make the equipment last a bit longer as long as I utilize proper maintenance.

Can't wait to see that build VA reef. Today is water change day. Every Sunday the reef gets a 20% water change, the sand bed gets sifted with a net and the rocks get blasted.
