    Shoot, back in Texas.....

Oh wait, that was another story

Lately I put the outer wood(Maple) on my Canopy,
    [IMG]

got my 50g WC ready a fews days from now
Painted the inside of my canopy with White Latex- brushing it on

Did a little readjusting on my LED dimmers for a slightly bluer look

I've been slowly raising my Mg- maoinly to get the stuff from growing on a new piece of Black eggcrate I have as my sumps frag area- it's leaching somethjing- cause it's no-where else in my system.

    Enjoying the view- as always

Lets see, cleaned the front glass, glued a Paly colony that came detached, cut the frag stem off a Zoa frag and glued it down and a good feeding (Gonipower and freezedried brine shrimp)

Totally rescaped my reef tank and in the process I got nailed by a rather large fireworm. Now my three fingers are swollen badly and it's no fun fixing garage doors like this. Grrrrrrrrrr.

I do a little something most days.

Yesterday I moved 3 different corals that were traded/given to me from the frag area,
    to th e DT.
    A Joe the Coral
A millipora stalk- Either Red; looks like my Rose near it though- time will tell
A frag of about 4 heads of Vivid Rainbows Zoas

    I also moved/placed a few corals around

    Today,
I did a 50g WC by shutting down the RP- the WP40's in the DT still provided flow.
My sump is a standard 125, and the way I use/do my sump, it keeps about 110g in it at all times.
I get the exchange water by siphoning out any detritus and water from the buttom of the sump only- goes down my floor drain in the basement.
Then my WC water gets gets pumped from a 55g I use exclusivley for this purpose to the sump.
(So cool- I put about 50-52g in the 55, heat it and flow for a day or two.
Dump a full bag of salt which comes out of the 200g box of Kent salt- comes with 4 seperate bags.- After a few hours- My refractometer read exactly 35 (1.027)- without any adjustments like adding a bit more salt, and/or a bit more RO/DI water)

Turn on my trusty DC12000, and the overflow starts flowing again very quickly.

I keep 2 of my old MJ with the fan powerhear attachment on in the sump also.
This keeps flow in there, helping to saturate the dwell time of exchange from my chaeto, etc.

There is always some chaeto strings/detritus that gets kicked up and to keep it out of the intake of my RP, I put a mesh bag over my 3.5" intake that has an eggcrate guard on it as well.
This catches lots of stuff at start up.- After about 10minutes, I pull it off and clean it in the sink.
I also utilize a Filter bag on the return for several hours to aid in catching any large stuff.

All in all, an easy and very effective WC method for my systom of about 260g.
I'm now making it a monthly routine around the middle of the month.
So I figure that 50gWC is roughly 20%.

Glad I'm not the only one to tinker ...non stop...funny , I never play ( or have played) with my fresh water set ups.. never saw the need... I added a new coral last night...I know I'll hear some flack about how difficult these are to keep...I've succeeded at everything I have tried so far.. I feel I'm up to the task... I started a new Nano tank and was at the LFS piking up some live rock for the Nano tank... and I saw a beautiful Orange carnation coral... I had wanted to add one but was waiting for my tank to mature a little more.. well... it seemed like fate.. he said he had had it for a month... no one wanted to buy it for fear of killing it.. I have done my research and he sold it to my for $20... more than half of what he was original November 2.JPG asking for it... it opened almost immediately after I put it in the tank...at lunch today.. my wife called to tell me that it was twice the size it was this morning.. so far..I guess it's happy...

It does not contain the symbiotic algae zooxanthellae. They need low light and feedings often.
