What have you done to your set up today?

Cussed at my scribbled rabbit for going up and down on the front corner of the tank until his nose was raw (it's white now). Did a lot of googling as to why he would do it. Realized they are just crazy and he should be fine once he settles in. (this is day 3)

 

Today, I finished a DIY HOB skimmer and got it running. Since I just changed my GAC last weekend and performed maintenance yesterday (including WC), I'm not surprised that it's not going crazy (never had any issues with nutrients or algae, either). I am very pleased that with a minimum amount of tinkering with flow rates, it's creating foam, collecting skimmate, and not filling my tank with bubbles.

 

Blew off my rocks with a turkey baster and then did a WC I'm battling a little cyanobacteria outbreak, so far I'm winning but I don't want to say that too loud

 

Changed filter socks and removed and completely cleaned my skimmer. Works great again.

Fixed my moon lights and cleaned my ato bucket and pump. That hose and pump got slimy!

 

Omg so excited. I used a nice sharp razor blade and carefuly pried the edges of GSP from the back glass. Cut GSP where it connects from the rock to the glass and traded a nice $20 bill size GSP piece to my LFS. I traded it for a nice discount of a nice galaxea colony, about the size of floppy disk (if anyone remembers those).

I did another 15g WC, moved some corals around, and put the filter bag back on my return to the sump.

I'm trying to get my DT show ready- I'm hosting the monthly meeting of the
Wisconsin Reef Society next Saturday, the 19th, at my house!

 

Did a 10 gallon water change and brushed off some rocks with a toothbrush as they had some dead cyano clinging on them

Also tested phosphates and found out that I have 3ppm in my tank...now I need to find out where that's coming from and start to consider getting a GFO reactor
