Sofar, so good. At first he got into it with my medium sized black seabed clown, ardently it showed who was boss. He actually looks very shy right now, I think it's day 3?' 2? We'll see.

My trusty SC150 skimmer has been working sub-par lately.
Sure enough, the Venturi tube was slowly getting narrowed with salt residue which really limits the efficiency.
I took a wire like a paper clip, and cleaned it out. Viola! We're skimming again!

It seems people often overlook this small area when their skimmer is not working well, and clean everything except the small plastic tube air intake

Keep me posted on the status of this fish Todd. He means alot to me. Id be extremely surprised if he got mean with any of the fish in your system. Maroons are generally so mean but I have had this guy eat out my hand. If he gets used to you enough he will actually swim into your hand. His owner before me would do the same with him. Such a weird thing to have a maroon this docile... But if for whatever reason it doesnt work out Ill take him back and rehouse him. He needs to stay in my family of "reefer friends" so I can go see him still. :) By the way his name is Bozo. I didnt name him originally, but hes had that name for the last 6-7 years. Its not fair to change it now. lol

Recently, 2 days ago actually, I reaquascaped my rocks and got the left side of my tank bujilt up more kinda like the right, moved some corals around, etc.
I'd post a pic, but I'm waiting for my encrusting Gorgonian to come ou8t also.

Even with all the detritus stirred up, with the chaeto basket cleaning, and the rock movement, I still detected no Nitrate rise, or phos for that matter, both still testing clearly bright yellow, 0 on the API kit.

Testing my params recently- things are good except too low Ca+, and a low Alk. Mg was OK.
Currently trying to raise them some with some supplements, and will start daily supplementing more when I can get the levels up.
All that Coraline and corals are starting to take it's toll on those params.

Been manually dosing to increase Ca, and Alk.

Finally got things near where i want it. Everything was fine with an occassional WC, BEFORE I started adding all the coral- not to mention to Plethera of Coraline algae all over my 6ft x 2ft back glass!

Re-arranged some coral frags for light, flow, etc.. - AGAIN

The coral I notice the most growth in since I started dosing is my Neon Orange Monti Cap! I actually think I can see it growing! ;-)

I also lowered mhy 120degree optic LEDs slightly over an inch lower- fish noticed right away- then settled down again- made it brighter!

Nearly every morning, I wake up and walk into my family room and use the LED flashlight app on my Iphone to spot check things.

And as usual, I have to replace a few pieces of coral that have been knocked over in the night! I also get to see the tentacle and polyp extension in action in my corals- at which time I usually walk down to check my sump- and turn over my chaeto blob- releasing visible food for the DT/corals.
I often have to emptyh my skimmer cup and give it a quick rinse and wipe in my downstairs wet bar sink.
Check my SG, manually dose a bit of kalwasser, a pinch of other things, and of course check the temp.
All the above, even with replacing corals, takes about 4-5min. Starting to be a morning ritual.
