Last night, I gave my wrasse a burial at lake. He is on his way to Lake Michigan. :(

Over the christmas break, he developed a circular sore on his side. I removed him and put him in a QT tank and treated him with Bifuran and Pazi Pro. My daughter drew him a picture to help him feel better. I haven't broke the news to her yet; I'm still in mourning. This was my favorite fish I've ever had and I'm pretty bummed that this has happened.

I have to post the picture. I agree, it's the part that makes me sad as well. I know she will be sad when she finds out. She would always check on him with me. The spot on his side was looking better and she got really excited saying that he's going to make it. I tried to tell there that there is no way to tell if he is or not. Just that we are doing what we can to help him get better, but nothing is for sure.

oh zesty, that picture - I'm so sorry - you know you can say you did your best - sometimes nature can be cruel. Your daughter must be a doll.

Thanks. She is the absolute best thing to happen to me, she's the reason I get up in the morning.

Hopefully whatever took the wrasse is just something that doesn't come back. Definitely frustrating.

    Big cleaning day.
Cleaned my PH's with a stiff toothbrush.
Took a razor scraper to the front and side glasses.
siphoned a bit from my CC bed, the rest from my sump.
Used a turkey baster and blew off a few areas.
    performed a 15g WC.
cleaned and added some PHosguard and GAC to my media bags in my overflow- very small amounts though.
And had a filter bag on the overflow sump return the whole time this was going on to catch some of the debris.

All that took about hours- but I was taking my time loving it!

getting all prepped for the big meeting Todd?! I find it really motivating when I'm doing things because I'm having visitors. I'm sure your club will be ultra impressed! May I ask why you usually preface adding phosguard by saying a small amount?

Yes, generally prepping for the big meeting a week from today of the
WIReefSociety.com I am hosting at my house!

I preface the Phosguard and GAC with that b/c I don't use much, and rarely change it- since the advertise that it won't leech back into the water column.
I guess I'm scared of some of the posts I've read about any of the additives like Phosguard, GFO, Biopellets etc. CAUSING problems in a DT/system when used at the advertised/recommended amounts?
