I meant to post this post on this thread on 1/19/14, the day after my party.
I inadvertantly posted it on another thread, I cut and pasted it.

"Well, I did alot of fragging for my guests last night at the January WI Reef Society Party I hosted last night!

    I learned so much also!

Like I actually have a Watermelon BTA! Thought is was Rose BTA.

And what I'd been calling a Rose MIlli, looks actually to be a Red Panet with different color morphs.

And my Majenta BN- a pink stylophora!

    Just to name a few

The party was a great success, and people really liked my Homebrew too."

    40g water change.
along with completely ripping apart everything under my stand and cleaning it all.
soaked protein skimmer and all pumps in vinegar for a hour or 2.
drained sump and cleaned out built up detritus.
put my old 120w led over my fuge with just the white channel on. (seeing if this will grow macro ok)
hooked everything back up and made sure to make the wiring look good.
oh and hooked back up my reactors.
came out pretty good i think.

It's always a good feeling when things get all cleaned up, especially the tank :)

Todd, you had a great party! I'm glad Maddy and I could make it, She didn't want to leave and that was after 4 hours of running around! haha!

I switched out a WP40 for a WP25 and a WP10 in my DT. The DT is a swirling around and around more erratically than ever and it's awesome!!

We were honored you and Maddy could make it.

    Glad your DT's a swirling!

For sure, it's always great to see your tank. However I was paying attention particularly to your flow. I had my flow turned down and comparing to yours, I was nowhere close to what you have for flow.
So, my new setup is wildly erratic. Putting flake in the middle and within 30 seconds, it's everywhere in the tank. Also I've upped the flow and while some of my LPSs were aggravated at first, it seems they have adjusted. The only thing that still looks mad are my hammers, but they are just a little tighter in their PE.

I'm (future) thinking about putting a timer on my WP10 and turning it off at night. I just want to run both for a while and see what happens.

    Matt,

I feel I have pretty good flow in my DT allright.
I used to have a lot more current flowing accross the front of it with the WP40 blowing down the length of the 125.
I'm sore you noticed that now it aims upward towards the surface at about a 30degree angle, and towards the length of the back of the DT.

I have another WP40 in a box- I plan to use the 2 of them in the 180, and nix the currently 3 other power heads I have in the 125.

The night time thing. For me, I feel I'd rather have the flow at night too when my LPS's are open and able to get more particles in the more flow.
    I dunno?
