Today I hung my new 165w generic led fixture, hooked up my new brs rodi unit, and fed my fish.
Picked up 5lbs of DOW calcium chloride from rite aid for $4.79 couldnt pass that up.

What is 'rite aid'? If it's fairly pure, good score.

Its packaged under the name Super-Melt, the only contents listed are calcium chloride and water so I think should be pretty good.

    Just Googled it,

There is a guy that advertises that he will deliver a
#50 bag of it to your front door,
    for $20!

I may have to get some.

Just put in my new 150 watt 20k radium bulbs and wow, what a difference! New bulbs made a huge improvement, everything pops.

Zapped a few aptasia I saw in the back/middle of my DT with a 1cc syringe and very potent Kalk and RODI.
It's the only place I ever see them there!
Usually takes months and they come back again.
I've been proud of keeping an aptasia free tank, and actually think/know these are those 'glass anenomes', which is type of aptasia IDB.

I was aiptasia free for over a year, but my sun coral came with a couple and I accidently crushed one and now I have about 5 roaming my tank. FWIW, glass anemones ARE aiptasia haha. If they are growing on your glass, take a razor blade and scrape them off and as soon as they're off, suck them up with a turkey baster. I've found they don't release spores through this way.

What's the recipe for your kalk mix?

I use the 1cc syringe from the Sailifert test kits.
I get a small container and mix abot a 1/2 tsp Klawasser in 5ml of RODI
That concentrated it will keep precipitating out alot, but no worry, put the tipless syringe in the small container and suck up/aspirate the paste.

Put it right in the center of the aptasia and shoot about 1/2cc into it.
It turns white- no duh- from the kalk paste. It'll shrivel up to nothing, if you see it again in a few days, hit it again.

The small amount of paste won't rock the chemistry of even the smallest of tanks.

Works well, cheap, pretty easy, no lasers, etc.

but lasers are so cool8) haha I'll try this for the ones not in the sun coral colony, too worried about it getting on a coral head. to be clear, the aiptasia "eats" the kalk right? you're not actually injecting it with a needle?
