Came home from work last night- RP was off, entire sump stuff was off.
MY pwer heads in the DT were still running- different system.

I started checking the electrical, tripped back my GFCI's, and one of my 2 reflector sockets for my Chaeto lights sparked and immediately blew it again.

Luckily, I had another in my sump room fror room light and hoked that up and all was good. Got the sump flowing again, etc. Judged by my timer for the lights, my sump waws off for about 3 hours.

Everything is fine now again however, SG spot on, etc.

    NO losses, etc.

It was sort of an extra light in my sump room as the replacement, so the room still has plenty of light when I go in there too.

NOt quite sure why the socket fried- it wasn't the CFL bulb which still works.
That reflector made it's way to my recycling bin.

    Crisis aborted.

Good thing I wasn't gone for like 2+ days. The heaters and everything else is in the sump, whick had all lost power.

MY power heads in the DT were on, lights, etc areon a different breaker.
All of it had the GFCI however.

    Today,
I'm still trying to figure out if my Plastic sump is actually leaking, and at what rate.
The padding under one section is wet- but my SG is staying firm atm.
I do have a suitable/thicker plastic sump waiting in case I need to exchange it before my 125g to 180 transfer- then my current 125'll be my sump. May have to do that soon.

I also cleaned the inside of my glass.- About twice a year- when the magflats just aren't cutting it anymore- I get out my plastic handled razor blade scraper and scrape the glass with the blade, including the corner edges- way that looks better after that!
I wiped the outside with RO on a paper towel, dried with a dry one- and BAM- new looking tank again.

I also moved some more corals around- getting them just right- for now ;-)

I'm happy to say as I have this day off, sipping on a 'New Belgium Abbey Ale', that my DT is kicking ass and taking names!

hmmm.....why is it that drinking beer is a common "theme" to Todd's posts ? :)

I changed my sponge pads (yes, I still have a couple in my sump - kind of acts like a sock) and skimmer. I went and put a little phosguard and new carbon in sump. I tried other methods for phosphate removal with some success but the phosguard always seems to work. I was a little disturbed by the articles on aluminum though but I'll be more cautious now and use a smaller amount and not leave it in for as long.

My next step really needs to be to get my chaeto growing - I need to spend more time on that rather than "finding" something else that works.

It's one of the only things I got- and sailing, and homebrewing, and Masters Swimming, and reefing, and work, and camping, and raising a family, and ...

Chaeto just needs some light, and some water ;-)

Today I siphoned some detritis from the dt into a filter sock, fragged some zoa and palys, and moved the tuxedo urchin into the fuge. Although his adornment of corals was sexy his bulldozing tecnique at aquiring them wasnt appreciated so hes banished. Fed the tank and siliconed some baffles into the 40b that will be the sump for the 125 setup.

I dipped some corals in Bayer insect killer. I noticed a few corals stopped growing and polyps have not been out much. Sure enough the red bugs are there. I've dipped all of my new corals in CoralRX. I didn't realize Coral RX doesn't kill red bugs.

The bayer works great but only for dips. It kills red bugs.
From now on this is what I will be using for a dip.
Also I ordered Interceptor Dog heartworm medication to treat the whole tank. If anyone is interested I got it from an Australian Pet place called petsofoz.com
You can't buy it in the U.S. without a prescription unless you sweet talk the vet and tell them what you're doing. Petsofoz will sell it to you without prescription.
