I did some tank maintenance today.

Took a power head and stirred up the dead spots in and between the rocks and kicked up all the nasty in the tank. Pulled out my skimmer pump, filter pump, and power heads, disassembled them and cleaned them thoroughly. Cleaned the tank hoods and the tank glass. Flipped a few of my snails back over. Did a 10 gal water change. (I used the skimmer pump to pump the water from my bucket to my tank since I had it off the skimmer. Worked like a charm...)

I smelled a fowl smell from behind one of my power heads, and found it to be coming from the suction cup. I pulled that bugger apart and cleaned it good and it was a headache putting back together. I wonder what caused the stench. I then put all pumps and power heads back in the tank and fired them up.

It took 2 hours to do the maintenance and 4 hours for the water to clear up. But I am glad to get the maintenance done.

I sat and stood drinking a beer (common theme I know-but it was after a 10hr workday),
Marveling at my new, massive, 125g sump/fuge!
I then got out one of my currently not being used Maxijet 1200 powerhead/fans and placed it in my sump aiming it back at the fuge/chaeto area!

I mean, have you ever just watched your sump/fuge? Look for and watch Amphipods move/swim around?

I do this all the time. I have to lay on the floor in the master bedroom closet (my wife thinks I'm crazy) but I do find amazing things at times. Like this for example. [IMG]

This weekend I finished the reactor thing I was working on, also added a vinyl tube and a valve for water changes.
