    So here I have three links to something we noticed in our tank today, it is kind of purplish and looks like it is going to have some kind of tentacles or something and it is bulbing up on our live rock...does anyone know what it is???

    Is it soft or hard? If it is soft it is coralline algae and is good for your tank. If it is soft it is red slime which is a bad thing.

    Purplish red is coralline algae, the white blob with veins looks like a sponge or tunicate, all good.

    Nooo nooo, I know what the coraline stuff is the big bulk of purple but if you look right behind it to the left you'll see something kind of like blooming looks like a shape of a tulip bulb or something...do you see it??

    Yeah that blob thing is purple and it looks like it is opening up and it looks like it has some kind of like little spikes all over it, it's not a sponge i have a big yellow one of those...this thing looks like its going to bloom open

    Oh that little thing. It looks kind of like a favia, but I'm not certain. i don't have any corals myself.
