So reading through threads about coralline it sounds like you need to have an established tank and have good lights for it to grow. Here's my thing, my tank is not established and i almost never have the lights on, and it's not even a good light. So shouldn't coralline not be able to grow? The only light that the tank has been getting while its cycling is natural sunlight from the window next to it. Would the sun be the reason why i'm getting all of this coralline. It's really taking off and i'm loving all of it.

Are you positive it's coraline and not a Cyanobacteria or else a pink/purple algae?

Coraline doesn't require bright light to grow. In fact really bright light, in my experience, slows its growth. It is growing in my fuge with a dim CF bulb. It also grows in my overflow box that just gets a low amount of stray light.

Congrats. Coraline is a sign of a healthy tank.

i believe the combination of light and calcium in your water are gettin it going.

The wavelength that it is reflecting will determine the color (ie different types of lights produce different colors)
what does it feel like when you touch it? Does it scrub off or chip off smooth or bumpy and how thick is it

The way to tell if it is coraline, try scraping it off with ur finger. If it is coraline it will be hard and wont come off the rock.
