You don't need a phosphate reactor if you have a HOB power filter. Just put some phosban and good carbon like chemi pure or get Chemipure Elite which has carbon and iron oxide together. You added too much live rock to the tank too fast. 5 Lbs every few days would have been better. Now just get a good clean up crew(blue leg hermits and various snail Astrea, Nessarious, maybe a couple turbos) feed lightly every other day till this goes away and do the lighting with new bulbs no more than 8 hours a day for now.I have the same tank with a aqua c remora. I am pretty familiar with the tank. Now your other 30 LBS of base rock will become live soon and then you will have enough 60LBS which is a good amount. Keep up with week water changes of 10%-20%. Good Luck

I got Aiptasia X and I think it works better than Joes Juice. The bottle is bigger at least and should last longer and keep the temp around 78-79.

Thanks for all the input guys - I started running the HOB filter again and put some extra carbon/phosban in a dosing bag in the skimmer prefilter. I'll try leaving the lights on for a bit less and pick up a better CUC in the next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

Sounds like a good plan. One worry I have is that I don't belive you have listed what your parameters are. My guess would be that you nitrate and phosphate are high. The tap water could be the source of nitrates, so it's good you are using RO/DI water now. You should test your water for everything right now to see where everything is at. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, Ph, dKH, Ca, Mg, Phosphate. That way, you will know if you started another cycle by adding the live rock.

And as others have said, those "mystery polyps" are aptaisia, they look to be spreading quickly, read up on them to see how to best kill them, I would do it before they spread further. You can use Kalk injected into them or Joe's Juice.

Sure, I did put my params in the original post, but it was pretty long... ;-)

    Nitrates/Nitrites - both 0ppm
    Ammonia - 0ppm
    PH - 8.4

I currently don't have a test for phosphates/Calcium/Magnesium/Alk - I'll be picking some up in a few days. As far as the aiptasia, I was familiar what that was, (I have a little peppermint that is working pretty well at slowing them down) I was looking more at the little green/brown polyps behind the mess of aiptasia. Behind the kenya tree in picture 3. I know its not a great picture, but it was the best I could get...

P.S. The water is much clearer this morning, however still getting alot of film algae on the glass. I'll post other params as soon as I can pick up those tests this weekend. Thanks Again!!
