i have a 54 gallon corner which is hard to find light with because or the lack of space for lighting currently i have no corals but plan on adding some, but i don't know what my lighting is good for, i have 2 65 watt coralife 10000k bulbs i heard that lighting for a coral tank is like necessary wattage= gallons time 3 or 4 but since i have a corner its their is less area, so wouldn't that throw off the scale?what corals and other creatures is it good for?? thank you for your help in advance

A 150 or 175 watt metal halide pendant would be ideal for your tank if you want to go reef. As you said, you don't have much room for fixtures, so lighting a corner tank is always difficult. As it stands right now, there really isn't too much you should be trying to keep with your current lighting.

mushrooms and other low-light corals might survive, but probably wont grow. you could always list your current lights for sale on craigslist, and in the meantime try to find a halide retro kit and get it setup over your tank.

wow, you cant beat $150 shipped for a halide pendant WITH actinic supplementation and a hanging system.

I would skip on the MH IMO, it will raise tank heat, go with a 30 inch t5 four bulb fixture! It will be cheaper, more color options and you will be able to keep anything you want! also the bulbs are cheaper! just my .02
