Can anyone ID this white mass on my Flame Angel? Treatment options?

He is not coming out to swim/graze much today, so it is obviously bothering him.

I wish I could help. It looks like some sort of fungus....I'm sure someone will ID it for you with advice on treatment. Very pretty fish!

I think it is fungus, most likely from an injury.

Thanks. He is the the male of my pair. I really don't want to lose him, because having a bonded pair of flame angels is not something I see a lot.

So, I will most likely have to set up a hospital tank, or can a fungal infection heal on its own?

After reading the chapter on bacterial and fungal diseases in The Marine Fish Health & Feeding Handbook (great book), I decided to give him a peroxide bath using regular 3% H2O2 @ about 75ppm for 30 minutes in a stainless steel bowl. After the lights went out, he was swimming around and picking at the rocks some. With good water quality the wound should heal (hopefully).

    seriously?
So what was the solution exactly, hydrogen peroxide and RO water for 30 minutes?! Freshwater dips scare the heck out of me. My fish always look sideways after like 30 seconds and I chicken out and put them back.
I'd love some info on this.
