Last year, she had a series of skin ailments. The initial cause was "hot spots" under her collar and where her fur was matted -- the skin and hair would get damp and never dry out. So, when she got a new rash under her collar this Spring, I decided to have her shaved. My daughter's high school animal care class did the job.

 

I love the booties

 

My dog Rex suffers from exactly the same problem and we do the same thing. However I heard a radio veterinarian recommend a drug called AVIL, it is an " over the counter " hayfever drug for people that you can safely give to dogs ( 1 per day ) and it stops the irritation of summer itch and therefore the biting and licking Works on Annick too, but that's another story
