I was cleaning my tank the other day when I kept hearing this constant fast tapping sound. Normally my small nassariussnails get as close to the korallias as possible and just sit there. This in turn makes said clicking sound. At a quick glance I saw no nassarius snails near the korallias so I decided to check for anything in the pumps. This is what I found.

That margarita snail is about 1" long. I use to think no snail would be dumb enough to go into a spinning blade of death, but I was wrong.

So who thought "mantis" when they read the title?

Koralias come with snail guards for good reason.

The snail guards also make the flow more streamlined than spread out.

very true. I have 3 K3s and 2 of them have the flow gaurd and one of them does not so it splits up the flow nicely. Sometimes those koralias spread is too wide for tight spaces.

FYI if you did not get the snail guards with your koralia, email hydor and they will ship for free. They also will ship stainless steel shafts and o rings for free.

    k+ for the info.
After spending months getting my flow the way I want it I don't plan on putting the snail guards on the pumps. Since I found this amusing I figured i would share the photo.

Yea...I was expecting a piece of substrate or shrimp skeleton from a molt clogging a pump. Definitely gave me a good laugh.

From the title I thought "possible mantis" from the first sentence I thought "definitely not a mantis."
