What is the best filter for a 40 gallon tank?

    I have 3 large goldfish that I'm going to move into a 40 gallon tank. I was considering the Marineland Emperor 400 and the Cascade Power Filter 300. Which one is better or are there any other filters that are good and not too expensive?

    don't know nothing about the Cascade...but the emperor is a bit loud..or at least the one I seen was....but it would be fine for 40 gallon. : )
    ..maybe check into a canister filter for a 40 ?
