What is the best first tang to get?

    Powder browns arnt as bad as blues still pretty. Or maybe do a bristletooth for a smaller one

    Not really, the parasites bury themselves pretty deep in to the fish, and the fish can only take so many chucks being taken out of them with the parasite.

    They will try to help tho.

    this all depends on the money your willing to spend ::) i see someone mentioned a gem tang, LOL. if you dont like scopas (one of my favorites) or yellow, look at the Hawaiian black tang, kole, most of the bristletooths, or a vampire tang. but thats JMO

    My favorites:

    - Any of the mimic tangs - tough to find
    - Lt Tang - my avatar
    - Flame Fin Tomini
    - Purple - very hardy and great looking
    - Red Sea Sailfin - when they grow up they are incredible looking - a little agressive, though

    The first tang I ever had was a Sailfin. I think you could throw a Sailfin outside in the snow and then throw it back in your tank and it would laugh at you. They are tough!

    Very true! I've only ever had one and it will be making the trip out to CA to inhabit one of my 175s. It has never remotely looked sick or stressed.
