I'm just curious to see what you all in 3reef land feel is the best hang on skimmer for the money. I've used 3 different brands in my time and I've been able to make an experienced decision on what I would recommend to a newbie. So if you hang it on lets see what it's doing for you and let's hear why you think it's the best. This is based on performance versus price so keep that in mind. ;D
I've listed the big 3 names in the poll + 'other' to cover.

I like the Remora HOB. It works well and is compact to fit behind most tanks.

Sweet. I've used the reefocto, odyssea and the the eshopps. Eshopps has outperfomed the other two hands down.

Deltec MCE600 for the big spenders and Bermuda Rogue a little cheaper. Nice thing about the Deltec is no pump in the tank & media chamber also, bad thing is it's $500+ new. Good thing is I'm dumb enough to spend that much cause I'm craaaaazy

aqua c remora for the money makes a very powerful HOB skimmer that requires little maintenance and is very compact.

AquaC Remora for me too. It's a basically set it and forget it skimmer (as far as dialing it in). Once you get it working, you don't have to fine tune it at all. I can't say that about other HOB skimmers I've had, which require either constant maintenance, or constant tweaking. Just empty the collection cup once a week, and nothing else. And it pulls out the most "gunk" of all the ones I've used (Red Sea Prizm, Seaclone 100, Skilter 250, and some airstone driven one that I don't remember).

What about Aqua C Remora versus the CPR Back Pak 2R+?

I used the CPR, it is effective but I think there are better units out there.

My answer would have to be SWC of course. Now that my bias is out of the way I do have to say that SWC HOB skimmers are monsters. No pump in tank, bubble plates, surface skimmers, media chambers and near no return bubbles.

Id say reefoctopus bh1000 or bh100F. Aqua C Remoras are good skimmers, but octo's have the clear design so you can see the skimming take place. They also come with a pump.
