I have read about Epsom salt from bulk reef supply and I mat go that route.

In the meanwhile, is any one brand any better than any other?

Should I just go but the cheapest one?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Your gonna get so many different opinions as ppl use different products. I dont think theres a "better" product out there, just which one gets recommended to you. Cheaper price is usually the most common factor that will sway a person to choose one product over the other. Luna

I'm like Luna on this deal I stopped posting about additives last yr when a war broke out about a buffer I have used for ever But as for Mag simply go to a drug store or a larger grocery and get a 2 lb carton of Epsom salts for 150 or so thats as bulk rate as you will ever get .no shipping either . Some make a huge deal about the sodium rather then chloride properties of the E/Salts its never caused a problem I am aware of .

Long term Mg supplementation with only MgSO4 is frowned upon as compared to MgCL2.. Will you notice a difference, probably not. Is it something to be worried about, most likely not, but could long term use of it distrupt your tank, yes.
The thing is most tanks do not need as much Mg as most people think, and doesn't really need to be supplemented all that much. So the epsom will most likely not cause an issue, but if you do go through a fair amount of MgSO4 than a 2# container might not last all that long depending on tank size.

I use Magflakes and Epsom to make my Mg supplement, DOW for Ca.... Should I worry about Br, less so than people dosing with Sr or using salts like Coralife that have had SERIOUS amounts of heavy metals in them!!

    Happy reefing!
