What is the best way to rid of algae on the glass?

I purchased the mag float with the scraper attached and think it works great. It's a 2 in 1 pad and scraper and I use the scraper to get the hard to reach areas along with the stubborn algae. It does take a little patience with the scraper part especially if the algae has been there a while but nothings perfect! I also use the scraper part to get below the sand around the tank to get that nasty green/brown stuff outta there

everytime i feed sallys frozen brine the next day i get some brown algae on the glass, i remove it with th mag float but i bought a magfloat that was for a smaller tank than mine just so it wouldn't scratch the tank,it's useless against coraline but that's what razor blades are for.

 

hmmm thats the brand that i have, maybe thats the cause

Go to walmart and buy a window scraper. Make sure it is metal. Literally scrape the algae off with it. After you use it rinse the blade off in fresh h2o and manually dry with papertowels. This will prevent corrosion and rust.

 

I found this plastic scraper from pamered chef in our kitchen and stole it ;D from the wife. It works great I think its effectiveness comes from the good leverage it gets but I have also noticed since adding my two K4s that I dont need to clean the glass nearly as much it used to be about every five days now I can wait like two weeks

 

i bought a razor blade from walmart, i tried it, worked ok got some things off, but i still had a lot of bad film algae afterwards. think the metal window scraper would be any different?

 

im getting a mp20 i wonder if the added flow will help with the film algae on the glass like it did yours

 

toothbrush will work wonders

 

+1 for some light dusting algae...toothbrush always....mag floats are good for bulk jobs...
