    I have a 210 All Glass Aqueon » Products » Pre-Drilled Aquariums
I have a mag 1200 pump in my sump feeding the dual split returns. At this time I have two Korelia 2's on the back glass and a Korelia 4 on each end. I saw the new Korelia Evolution line and want to at least replace the Korelia 2's if not all of them. Given this information can anyone give me their best setup idea for me. I'm open to any suggestion.

well only you can answer that. every tank is different, size, live rock placement, etc.. I guess I'll ask you, are you have dead spot issues with current powerhead placements?

if no: then dont change a thing.

if yes: adding a extra power head to address that area or tweaking a existing powerhead for that area if possible.

hows that? lol oh and nice tank!

The way you have them positioned actually looks really good as it is. If you are having any problems with detritus build-up on the sand, it would probably help to move the 4's down some to get some flow closer to the sand. If your corals like it and you're not having build-up problems though, I would keep it as is.

here is the only advice you will get from me about koralia... they area a terrible company, their product put 43.1 volts into my tank, thus killing my previous desjardini and a blonde naso. then when i wrote a letter to complain to hydor usa in california, the representative had me ups them out there and then said he tested them and could not find any charge. i asked him to mail them back to me and he has yet to do this... ive been waiting for 4 weeks now. they have cost me A LOT of money now!

I would actually replace the 4's before I replaced the 2's. Replacing the 4's is going to bring some of that bulk down and make the tank a bit more attractive. 1400 will give you a few hundred more GPH than the 4 plus the size is about the same as the 2. So now they will all be similar in size so extra bonus.

Everyone will say flow is dependent on what corals are kept but with a mixed reef it has to be an equal medium. With that being said, I did read an article on the directional placment of powerheads and how positioning them correctly can stop dramatically help from keeping phosphates locked inside Live Rock.

IMO leave the most powerful heads on the outside walls facing in with no downword flow. Then direct the smaller pumps in best position where they are most adquetly suspending debris off the LiveRock. just my 2 cents
