Usually they are just referred to as "divers". Unless you are going after rare stuff (aka really deep diving) it does not pay well.

    +1 on Beaun

most of the reef stuff thats wild caught, is captured by locals from the areas the fish are from, it wont be highly paid, they are paid in relation to fish caught (a price per fish)
so bad days, means no money

Ive been a commercial diver for 4 years now and been around, different jobs and different places and I have never heard of anyone reffering to a title, never even heard of an opening for a diver who catches or collects reef aquaria.

where you make your money at is being an importer...
the divers make on average $4 per fish, the importers can make up to a couple hundred off of each fish

    they import things LOL

They are typically the people from large organisations or trade organisations that import the fish collected from several locations and then offer those fish to the various retail outlets

oh okay haha i was wondering if it entailed diving as well. that sounds like a pretty interesting job. im trying to find jobs that are related to the ocean along with marine biology. do any of you guys have suggestions? i want to work with animals specifically. ive also looked into commercial diving but im too scared to do it haha.

sorry once again for this thread. i know it doesnt have anything to do with reef aquariums but i really appreciate the help.

State aquariums have very long waiting lists to even be interviewed for a position. I looked into this field to get a job like that, and found that at some aquariums the wait was years.
