Just do water changes, and keep your skimmer clean so it can perform as it should. What kind of skimmer do you have? What is anti-nitrate powder, i cant say that ive heard of it?

Seems adequate to me. A hob filter isn't necessary. Keep up with routine water changes and everything should be fine, assuming rod water is used.

Simmer removes the junk that turns into undesired nutrients. Do you have a powerhead?

Proper stocking, regular small water changes, and daily top off. Just make sure you stay as consistent as possible with all of those. When in doubt, do a search on here, if nothing turns up start a thread.

Imo you dont have to even use water changes unless something is out of wack. Plenty of circulation and a good skimmer is all you need. When you add corals is when you will need water changes to add back minerals.
