I agree 1 yr seems to be the sweet spot--i have read that is when the algae blooms start coming to an end, coraline is thriving etc. I am almost 7 mo and been very lucky so far-I am on my second ick outbreak, battling a small hair algae bloom right now--but not worried. Just enjoying watching what Mother Nature does that we dont see under the ocean surface--pretty cool huh?? Knock on wood, I have never lost 1 fish yet!!!!!

I think this hobby is just a LONG series of checkpoints and pit stops...i don't think I will ever be "there" until im 80 years old with a house built around a 1000 gallon healthy reef.

    its okay to dream right?
