If your tank params are as crazy as your post your fish are screwed! :)

j/k I wouldn't think you wouldn't want to getover 83 degrees but that might even be too high.

The numbers vary depending on who you read, but once you start getting much above 82 or 83, you enter a zone where the time of exposure becomes relevant. I don't believe, for instance, that 10 minutes at 86 will kill any fish, but keeping it as a regular temprature will a) stress them over time, and b) cause you to risk death with even small variations.

My tank hits 83 in the late afternoon on some hot summer days without harm. I would not want to run it at 83 regularly.

IMO its better to shoot for stability than a specific number. Anywhere from 73-83 is acceptable as long as its stable. That said, bacteria and parasites thrive at higher temps.

Entirely depends on the fish, and where its from. What you say is not true for Red Sea fish, and others like the Sea of Cortez. The the southern part of the Red Sea is ~86°F in the summer.

Without knowing the species and capture location, there isn't a lot of room to give any suggestions as to max - min temp.

I seem to remember something about oxygen levels dropping as temperatures rise. This is about the third or fourth post about temps. In the other threads they recommended adding a fan, thats good advise.

minajaguar, with all due respect, this is your 7th post about heat. You'll get much better results by sticking to one thread, so people don't have to go through the same questions to help you every time.

IMO, you've received good advice on your other threads. I'd try those. Remove and glass tops/canopy you have, build a mesh top http://www.3reef.com/forums/i-made/clear-mesh-jump-stopper-121802.html and aim a fan across the top of the tank, or buy a chiller.
