I was talking to a guy yesterday and got on the topic of ph in tap water and tap water being bad for aquarium use..... I have been using my tap water and have had good results, i even took a water sample from my tank to the lfs and he was surprisingly impressed. and all i use is tap water, of course i give it the ol water conditioner before use. Whats your tap ph like or other parameters. So straight out of the tap mine is at 8.0. curious you think?

Busta, what type of chems do you add to your tap. I have a R/O system but is must be a 1 gal a day setup, very slow. However if i can use my tap and add chems to it that would make my water changes much easier.

What are your full steps to water changes. just curious, very new to SW.

I don't add any chemicals to my tap water, as for as my water changes I do as anyone else would, mix a bucket of new saltwater, remove some old water, and add some new.

how many gallons are you changing?
I recommend for you if you are using a R/O system I'd stick with it, it is far better than tap water.

The reason people use ro/di is to remove disolved solids; phosphates, copper, lead, silicates, iron, and other nasty things.
Not so much to change the ph.
Without ro/di you are opening yourself to a heap of trouble, algea and cyno outbreaks, Potentialy copper could enter your system. Copper would prevent you from Keeping inverts and coral.
