I just had to remove a flatworm that was hanging around in this area of live rock, it is the white thing at the top of the pic. he is no longer in the tank but this brown stuff has been on the rock, it looks like toffy... I'm not sure if it was anything to do with the flatworm that was hanging out there or if it's just some sort of algea that came with the rock, new to the hobby.

I believe the flatworm was a polyclad flatworm but he's now gone. I read they destroy corals and I intend to get corals.

Thanks for you help, Pic is below.

Tank: Biocube 29 // 10 days old and still cycling

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Looks like a type of cyanobacteria, if it easily is removed by simply directing flow to that area with a turkey baster or power head that is probably it. Cyanobacteria is very common in newly set up systems. The use of RO/DI water and absence or excessive nitrates and phosphates usually resolves the issue on it's own. Increasing flow to the system or that particular area is also a good intervention.

Polyclads typically eat snails and clams, rarely do you see a coral eating variety.

Thanks for your reply, I'm not quite sure I'm going to leave it and see if it grows. All my water tests seem to be fine, think it came with the rock and didn't grow in this tank. Goona keep my eye on it tho.

I Also spotted these 2 other things that I have no idea what they may be. They haven't done anything in 10 days... Came on the live rock, they look like 2 brown rubber things...anybody know?

I second that, I have had many of these sponges in my tank for over a year with no problems.
