Hi, I bought some live rock from a LFS and it had these things on it. They poke out most of the time and if something get close to them they suck into the tubes. Also, I have noticed that they are starting to spread around my tank to the walls, rocks, etc. Are they going to over take my tank, or are they fine??? Thanks.

they are featherdusters, a worm, that builds those tubes they stick out of. and they are everything but bad.
first, they just look cool. And second, they clean your water.
They are filter feeders and live on all the stuff floating in your tank.
They don't do anything bad to anything in your tank.

Hey, thanks all. I was a little worried because there are probably hundreds of little white ones starting to grow. They are only a millimeter across or so but there sure are a lot of then.

Matt, Yep I just moved to Madison after I graduated from UW-La Crosse and got a job here. I like it. It's a pretty fun city to live in, esp for the football games (which I never remember anyways ;)

yeah, I'd be happy to have more of them. I had bright red ones in my small tank, but they never multiplied and there is only one left. Too bad :/
