what is this "chaeto" all about??

    what about water evaporation though? wont it be dangerous? remember that i have a cap covering the top of my sump.. let me take a pic so you guys can see how its set.

    Actually to tell the honest truth, yes I have eaten cheato.. after trimming it, I tried to convince my roommate to try some and he bet me the same so we both tried about a spoonful.. Its kinda crunchy and salty LOL;D

    Well you really don't want it in your sump since it will clog your return pump. You want to create a separate section for your refugium that will have a divider to keep the water level constant.

    Wow, holy crap, you ate your chaeto. Wow. I wouldn't want to eat that. Did you put salad dressing on it? LOL

    I have mine in my sump - it's in a basket. Just a simple basket from target, with square holes for the water to pass through. My chaeto pretty much grows in a tight ball and doesn't clog my pumps. You would not want to put one of those clip on lights in there. I would keep the sump from being enclosed, it helps with gas exchange, keeping it closed up like that is detrimental. Open it up and clip a light to the edge. My sump is becoming coated with coraline now too. Haha

    my light is an 18 shop flourescent that sits behind the sump, if you can have that light come on opposite ur tank lights so you have no fluctuations in PH levels (levels will increase slightly at night when lights go out....ergo the more lights on at one time will increase levels, if one or the other is on constant PH level will stay almost exactly the same 24 hours a day....
