What is this coral I bought?

    spider sponge. Will need to have high flow to keep algea off Needs to have phyto feedings also.
    Cool!
    It is a little more difficult to keep alive so good luck

    again, remember to target feed a couple times a week with phyto, zooplankton etc. This is non-photosynthetic, meaning the sponge itself will get no benefit from the lights.

    What kind of fish do you have, some fish will nip at these a lot more. Hopefully no angels in your tank

    thanks for the id!
    I had paid $10(canadian) for this piece. and all the fish are leaving it alone. also i spot feed all of my corals, so hopefully I will have success with this one.

    not to sound like a jerk but in the future you should research anything before you put it in your tank.

    good luck with it andy. it is eye catching. did you get it in the toronto area, ive seen them listed up here.

    The encrusting parazoanthus (white part) are non-photosynthetic too.

    Don't expose the sponge to air.

    Wow, here in Michigan, LFS had one about twice the size with one branch coming out from the side and wanted $80.00! For the price, even if it doesn't make it, it is worth the try.
