What is this in my tank?

I have no clue what this is. They are these white string like thinks in my tank. They seem to get stuck on things and sucked up into my filter. I have no clue as to where they have from I have not stuck anything weird into my tank.





The only thing that I could think of what that I used a piece of towel that was a little ragged to wipe of my glass from the sandstorm when I started the tank. But I have no clue. Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

 

yea i have them to,they are like spiderwebs almost. ima tag along to see what it is.

 

If it helps I tested my water today and I still have Ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates showing up. Nothing in the tank right now.

 

Any coral in there? I get the impression of no, but it looks like coral slime.

 

No coral, nothing.

 

i had those too in my new tank.. I would worry about it.

I get trails like the ones on your intake when my turbos crawl around munching.

 

It’s fine, I have seen them in the past as well – sort of like a tanks version of a cobweb.

On another thought….you use paper towels to clean your inside glass? Probably want to stay away from this….it will be inevitable that you will get some sand in the way and scratch up your tank. Pick up a mag float – much better than sticking your arm in the tank.
