What is this little guy?

    Take a look at this little starfish on the rocks. I just saw him about 2 days ago for the first time. Any idea what type it is? Sorry for the bad pic. Hope it's good enough to ID.

    looks like an asterina.

    some are good, some bad. Watch it closely.

    A few have popped up in my tank. They don't seem to bother anything.

    The asterina with 7 legs are known to eat corals. Matt has a thread with pic evidence of one mowing across his monti.

    Some like to eat coral, that's why I think he said to watch out.

    Asterinas are pretty debated - some people think some are bad (coral munchers), and some people think all are fine. I've never had an issue with mine - in fact I really like them!

    Ok, well I'll just keep an eye on him. Like I said I hadn't seen him until yesterday, but he might have hitch hiked into my tank. I just got the pink zoas above him. He might have been on them when I get them.
