Hey i live in NY on the Long Island Sound and had just came off a boat and saw these things that looked like they could maybe be some kind of corals or maybe fish eggs but they formed in some strangely specific patterns so I doubt they're eggs....the area around them had tons of stunning sponges and stuff i wouldnt imagine being able to even live in the sound

Were these on the shoar line or did you pull them out of the water...? Looks like a variety of favia/favidd to me (and why are they not in a container of water?).

stuck to a dock, they are in a little local tank...i pulled them out for a quick picture because the camera wouldnt focus through the water...definitely not anything stony, there was no skelton, kind of felt similar to a leather and semi stiff but not solid

Oh, I see. You moved the object differently in each photo? lol :) It must be larval stage of an organism. Any more than that, I don't know. Sorry I couldn't be of more help here.

Yeah, I see a repetition (for the most part) of green and lavender stripes, purple centers! That's why I thought it was a favidd at first. But those middle 3 shots of it stretched out make it look all black.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
IMO there is a good possibility they are Bryozoans, bases on the where you found them, and the structure.

I would goggle Bryozoans local to your area.
