On the first picture, if you scrape with your fingernail does it come off easily or does it really have a good grip of the rock?

sorry if my answer was vague i just woke up.

part of the second pic looks like cyano bacteria, the i dont know the name for the hairy algae.

in saltwater tanks they are so many different types of algae that i wouldn't bother with the names unless they are very virile and dont respond to the standard algae preventive measures.

dirty water will help algae grow by giving it nutrients, but just because you have perfect water doesnt mean theres not enough nutrients to grow some algae.

you see our fish tanks are a battle ground of organisms fighting to live and eat. bacteria and plants can filter your water. in fact there are systems that uses plants as filtration, most common is probably a refugium

algae is a plant. so your little algae problem is finishing up the nutrients that the bacteria leave.

if your tank is new and your algae problem is small i would just wait and see what happens most new tanks go through different periods of algae.

its virtually impossible to scrape it off, i have to scrape off the coralline algae to get that brown stuff off

see my reef tank is about a year and a half old, i have a sump with natural filtration ( caulepra, mangroves, and live rock)

    nitrates:0
    phosphates:undetectable
    silicates: undetectable

although i did buy 2 fire fish a month ago and they dissapeared, maybe that the reason for this algae problem( not so much of a problem as much as the nasty look it gives) but i just want to figure out what this algae is so that i can get rid of it. i couldnt find any pictures or similar pictures to that of what i have.
