What is this on my sand?!

    What on earth is this on my sand and how to I get rid of it? Thanks!

    Looks like Daitoms or Cyano.

    If your tank is old it might be that you toped off with tap water or you are over feeding.

    If it is a new tank it will happen, it will diappear just as fast as it got there. You can get a Diamond goby that is what I did and 2 days later sand was white as ever

    Or get rid of it the old school way and just siphon it out!

    It's most likely cyno. You have several options, decrease what you are feeding, increase flow in the area, maybe old bulbs if older tank or as beamerhack said if a new tank, that's just what happens sometimes and it should go away eventually. In the mean time, siphon it out and maybe do a water change.
