I have seen this growing over the last 2 weeks. It is the size of a quarter or so. The red stuff looks like it is acting like a net or webbing to hold in the bubble type objects inside of it. I tried to get the best pictures I could but it is hard to get a good shot at the angle it is at.

That is a birdsnest that I got from a guy in town that was being torched by his lights. I'm trying to save it. It was a lot worse than that a month ago.

So how do you recommend I get it out? that is the only spot I see in the entire tank. I don't want it to spread.

Try using a turkey baster and suck it out.

Sweet!! That stuff likes to grow in areas of the tank that don't get much flow.

Every month or so, I like to get this small Rio powerhead I own, and blast the all rocks and coral with it by hand. It knocks off a lot of detritus and whatever might be building up on or around the rocks and coral.. It works good!! You'd be surprised how much stuff gets lifted off the rocks and into the water column by doing this...

And the sps needs high flow. Might be one of those weird spots, but, be sure that the birds nest has adequate flow.

Yep, more flow will keep cyano at bay. It will also keep the SPS happy, but too much flow will annoy LPS....
