what is this

    i have these little red things in one corner of my tank. i thought it was a start of some kind of cyno but they are little tiny pieces then this morning i was really looking and they were on the glass to and they were moving. they are very skinny and about 1/16 to 3/8 " long and a lot of them. heres a pic IMG_0108.jpg

    You have a huge flatworm issue going on unfortunately.

    oh crap how do i get rid of it and where did it come from. i have heard of this on other forums but never seen it. and when i was looking in there this morning some looked like they were moving but now i can't tell.what can i use

    You will need to remove as many as possible by suctioning them out.

    When FW (flatworms) die they produce a toxin that will wipe out a tank.

    Next research the use of FW exit.

    There are fish that will eat them, but in your case and with that type of FW I would advice against that.

    You will need to do a large water change after treatment and run new quality carbon. One treatment may not be enough.

    If you dont have any fish, corals, or inverts in there you could use flatworm exit..... If you do killing that many of them at once will most likely cause a toxic reaction.

    i have about 9 fish and a lot of corals. frogspawn a lot of pulsing xenia, monti, toadstool leather, fox coral ,mushrooms ,a few zoo colonys,duncan, cabbage leather, favia, deseara clam, star polyps.
    i have never had anything like this the whole time I've been doing salt water.

    I would be very cautious using the flatworm exit, i have before with great success but I had 1/100000 of the flatworms you have.

    If you remove as many FW as possible prior to treatment you should not have a huge issue with the corals and fish.

    It's the inverts like hermit crabs, snails, starfish and such that take a hit and look really stressed during and after treatment. They usually all come around after a day or so if you do the water change and run the carbon.
