    I have a white very thin white film on my powerheads and on my drip tray it also builds up on my filter pad?

    My tank is 3 weeks old yes i know that it is a algea stage but dose anyone know what this stuff is?

    pic on way if i can find usb cord :cry:

    Off the top of my head it sounds like dying Green hair algae.

    I did have a little gha but i put some emarld crabs in there and they ate it all

    What are your parameters? It sounds like it could be Ca precipitation. Does it blow off or do you need to scrape it?

    im thinking it has something to do with surface agitation. point that powerhead to the water surface and see if it works

    I agree with GuitarMan89. Sounds like it might be calcium precipitation due to phosphate, your calcium level is quite high and a small amount of phosphate can cause the calcium to come out of solution and precipitate.

    I would do small water changes about 5-10% every 2-3 days with a descent salt mix to lower your calcium to around 420mg/L this needs to be done slowly as a sudden drop can cause many other problems. Do you run any phosphate removers?
