    That is not prudent and may even be useless. Too many times aquarists think of water changes as a cure all when in fact the water change may just be a "band aid" or useless. You don't even state what your Mag is. If the Mag is proportional to the Calc, there is no problem. Some tanks (my Bio is one) has been to 600 ppm with no precipitation because the Mag is 1500 ppm. I don't believe you have precipitation. If it is powdery and blows off, something may be getting blown up like residue or it is a fine diatom bloom of sorts. Don't disrupt the tank not knowing what exactly is going on.
