    Hi Everyone,

I've had some sort of algae bloom in my tank and I'm wondering what type of bloom it is. The tank has been up and running for between 2 and 3 months. The cycle was done the first 3 weeks with Dr. Tim's Live Nitrifying Bacteria (fishless). Can this be part of the tank establishing? And, is establishing different from cycling? I use RO/DI water, as well.

    Thanks for your help.

Diatom usually don't have the bubbles that you're seeing. If I had to guess I would say its not algae or diatom but cyanobacteria

Any advice or is it just part of the tank maturing?

dinos would not be part of the tank maturing. I would try to blow off the bubbles and see if it's attached to the algae......if it's not attached, I think it looks like diatoms....

I was just able to wave them all off. So that is a good sign, right?

Normally it will go away on its own in time. Manual removal is usually the least people will do about it. There are products available like chemiclean and red slime remover if that's the route you would like to take.

If it's normal for the tank maturing, I will just let the tank do it's thing and would go the non additive route. Thanks for your help!
