Hoping someone can help me identify this coral. I've had it for about 2 months now but forget what they told me it was. When it retracks it goes in to a stone that resembles an ice cream cone! :p

Either goniopora or alveopora. "flowerpot". That's my guess.

Beat me to the punch...... That flowerpot looks better than mine did at 2 mos. I'll never buy one of those again. And good luck as luna said.

Just looked at some other picks of goniopora and it is what it looks like. Anyone know anything about them? Like I said I've had it for about 2 months and so far so good. Anything I should know, and tips?

Most dont last more than 6-8 months. They are high maint. you need to feed them alot or have what I call "dirty" water. Particles in the water. Very hard to keep, even most LFS cant keep them alive. Luna

i picked one up from my lfs just yesterday, not realizing what it was - i think i was hypnotized by the little waving parts. so far it looks ok, but having seen the posts on flowerpot, i can't imagine it'll last long.

Does anyone on 3reef have one of these that has done well?

    How quick?

I have had mine for about 1 month and it seems to do great! I guess when I bought it I didn't realize they were that hard to keep. I won a gift certificate at my LFS for $50 so I only paid $10 for it so if it goes bottoms up I guess I am not out a lot for it!

    Mines pretty big....about 6" x 4"
