What Kind of coral is this?

    Possibly, but I doubt it. You will know for sure by touch. The carnation will be tough and rough to the touch. A colt will feel like goo in a bag.

    That's actually why I thought it might be a dyed colt. Most people don't know this but many softies do utilize Calcium and alkalinity to form spicule skeletons. These are called schlerites. Normally, these spicules are visible on the "trunk" of the coral. I don't see any spicules. Colt corals have spicules as well but much fewer than a carnation coral.

    I just ordered one of these. Keep it under a cave with moderate flow, and definitely feed it many times a day.
