    Be careful, cows from the genus Lactoria can put out nasty chemicals if they die/get stressed. They can nuke a tank in a matter of minutes, I've seen it before and it is not pretty..

    I hear as long as tankmates are peaceful and it is the first fish in, it should be ok...

    Yup, but if they are stressed or die for whatever reason, it can be fatal to your tank inhabitants. They are very cool fish, but they belong in a species tank IMO..

    From what i am reading my tank is to small to get a cowfish anyway. SIGH.. Only have a 24gallon
