what kind of light for refugium

    I have cheato in my fuge but won,t grow so i am guessing i dont have the right light. Right now i have a clip on work light with a one of those every day twisty looking bulbs. What do you use?

    From what I read you need a 6500K - 8000K bulb. The energy saving bulbs will not substitute.

    I use a cfl daylight bulb rated at 6000k in a Home Depot clip on reflector and I get good growth on an opposite display tank lighting schedule.

    I typically use the same with decent growth also.

    I use a couple Ace Hardware brand 13w power compacts. I think they are 7k or so. They work great. I have heard good things about the twisty types too but I already had a power compact retro. I did see a 7k twisty after some digging at Ace. Ace bulbs are cheap and work well!

    6500K power compact work great and are the way to go. The twisty kind are great.
