I just purchased a Berlin Classic skimmer. The website said that the rio 2500 or the rio 3100 was the pump that worked with it. Is it necessary that I use these pumps, or can I use a different pump?

I had one running on a Mag 7. Saw a big difference in production than with the rio it came with.

The rios will work great for that skimmer. Mag is also a good choice. Now just hook up some ozone to it and you all set.

So, it doesn't have to be a rio. It can be a mag 7 or similar pump with a similiar gph rate, correct?

Correct. I use a rio and don't have a problem.

If im not mistaking the pump that comes with the classic is rated 500 or 550 gal/h right? I saw a big difference in skimate production when my rio craped out and i put a mag 7 (700 gal/h) on it. Im not saying the rio isnt gonna do the job, just that a higher rated poump will do it better.

So, it can be any pump as long as it has the proper range of gph?

I ran mine with a mag 9.5, much improved performance noted as well. ;D It can handle the flow, no problem;)

I'm running mine with a CA1800 rated at 635gph and its not producing diddly squat ever after adding a strong air pump to the air valve just to make some bubbles trying to get it to reach the top.
