what kind of sand do you use?

    I have some really fine sand i was think of changing it to a more coarse sand i get brown algae all over.I no its cause my tanks new. Wich one do you think better?

    The look or feel of the sand will have no bearing on the brown algae. It will be there either way. If you like the look of more coarse sand that's cool. For the brown algae problem I would suggest some sand sifter like some nassarius snails or sand sifting star.

    Not sure how old your tank is, but I had the same problem early on w/ the brown algae in the early stages and just let it run its course. It went away.

    stay with the fine sand it actually holds more bacteria for breaking down things and keeping your tank in balance, with courser sand and bigger things like cc it holds less bacteria. just stay with the fine sand it will be ok
