    Found this in a Lfs, and i thought it was a turbo snail ? but then one of the people working there told me they dont think its a turbo and there not exactly sure how it got there.. any help appreciated..

    Having no image... I'm going to say Astrea Snail. Most commonly confused for a TURBO

    A picture of the snail out of the water, showing mainly the upward portion of the shell will help as well, but John probably will know straight off.

    Hmmm...sorry, I'm not too sure on an ID for you, but you can check out gastropods.com and maybe find an ID on that site. good luck

    My first thought was that it was Bursa granularis, assuming that stripe down the side is a raised varix, but I'm not sure I'm seeing everything I need to see. The coloration is more like a couple species of buccinid whelks, which don't keep the labial varices on the shell as they grow larger. Can you take it out and get a pic of the dorsum and of the ventrum, with the animal withdrawn into the shell? Bursas are worm eaters, but the other options are all snail eaters.

    Next time I'm there I'll try to get a picture of it out of the tank for you..
