What kind of Star Fish is This?

    When I purchased this starfish I was told it was a General Starfish, however, I can't find any info under that name. Yesterday I noticed he had a small white dot on the top of him and I was concerned and wanted to research it. Please help. Thanks

    thats funny, i get loads of hits on google for general starfish. not sure what the white dot could be, maybe one of the nubs falling off or growing back?

    Looks like it is probably a Protoreaster species AKA horned starfish
