Anthelia are generally pale in color, ranging from tan to cream shades with some even appearing almost white. The color is depends on the lighting of the aquarium. Although Anthelia are often mistaken for Xenia Soft Corals, the genera can be distinguished by observing the polyps' growth from the base. Anthelia Soft Corals will have a carpet or mat-like base that spreads along the surface the coral is planted on. In addition, the pulsing motion seen in Xenia polyps is not normally seen in Anthelia polyps. Each polyp normally has eight feathery tentacles. info from central pets.com

Give these guys a cigar , Some would call it a coral I would call it a plague get rid of it as fast as possible it will entirely over run everything in the tank , Like Kudzu has the south. You can watch that trash coral actually expanding over night as it encroaches on the rest of the tank.

Sad part is I doubt that you will ever be able to kill it off totally now.

If your tank water is to their liking they will over run everything in the tank like weeds and are next to impossible to get rid of like Green stars and mushroom and the zoas they can all just take over. If you like them keep them .

Tangster is right on when he says it grows like a weed but if you like and want to keep it I would try to find a location that you can maintain it easily. I put mine on the bottom away from my LR that way if it spreads I can trim it before it spreads out of control. But mine grew like crazy when first introduced and now just kinda went dormant.

Keeping the rocks that the coral is on will not prevent it from spreading. When it overran my tank, I noticed that once the rock that the coral is on is completely covered, a few polyps would "hop" off to get blown to another part of the tank where it could continue to spread.

The irony for me is that I am eagerly awaiting the day when I can also agree that GSP, Anthelia, shrooms and Zoas are taking over in my tank
when that day comes, Ill know I have created optimum conditions for at least some of the species I purchased

some people including me, still aspire to achieve many things others find easy
